Commentary
Following planning refusal, APT was instructed and advised on the best approach in order to appeal to the Local Review Body (LRB).
The client was seeking to replace the original sash and case windows with a modern PVC window supplied by CR Smith. They were also replacing all of the external doors on the property.
APT prepared and submitted the appeal to the LRB.
APT presented a robust response to establish the appropriateness of the replacement windows and doors within the Conservation Area contrary to a significant planning history in East Lothian refusing such applications and appeals.
Outcome
Planning permission was granted on appeal.
Impact
The replacement style modern PVC windows are an acceptable alteration to the building.
