Planning permission secured for planning permission in principle for residential development to the south west of Newlandburn House, Newlandrig.

Commentary

The site is a derelict chicken cooperage which had been disused from many years and was granted planning permission for residential development.

For a number of reasons development had not progressed under the terms of the previous permission and the client was then subsequently refused planning permission on reapplication.

APT prepared the new planning application, providing sound justification that the land at Newlandrig could deliver 10 family sized homes which would blend entirely appropriately into the existing fabric of the village.

Outcome

Planning Permission Secured

Impact

This application highlighted that planning policies provide a framework within which to determine applications for planning permission but that they do not provide an absolute, nor can they apply in all circumstances. High quality development such as this can make a positive contribution.
