Commentary
The development site which was situated within a Conservation Area, was a redundant church and the proposals were to utilise the existing built form to create 16 flats.
Church conversions make challenging projects but this was an exciting and immensely rewarding development as the aim was to achieve the right balance between maintaining the heritage and the external aesthetic beauty of the listed building and creating usable living spaces.
APT was retained to provide robust advice and produce a detailed Planning and Design Statement seeking Planning Permission for change of use and residential development on this iconic, city centre site.
Outcome
Planning Permission Secured
Impact
This project sought to reimagine the former church to work as homes, whilst retaining its external characteristics and local landmark status.
