Commentary

The client’s proposal was to build an attractive family home and outbuildings to create a desirable new rural property and small business premises.

Following a previous planning refusal, APT was instructed to advise the client on a fresh Planning Application submission to address the previous concerns of Midlothian Council.

Key planning policies had to be addressed, specifically those relating to Development in the Countryside, Special Landscape Areas and adding to existing building groups in a rural community.

APT prepared the new planning application with accompanying supporting information and planning statement providing sound justification for the layout of the site and the positioning of the relative elements.

Outcome

Planning permission was granted.

Impact

The client can now build an attractive family home and has the opportunity to realise the home-to-work aspiration in a rural community.
