Commentary

The client’s proposal was to build an unapologetically contemporary extension to Pressmennan Lake House – a Grade B listed building.

The Lake House is situated within mature gardens and in its own grounds located on the northern slopes above Pressmennan Lake.

The client’s aim was to create a stunning family home, of exceptional design quality and it was our professional opinion that the high quality extension added real interest to the historic building and was an exemplar of how a listed building could be extended.

Following the refusal of planning permission, APT was instructed and advised the client on a revised approach in order to appeal the decision to the Local Review Body. APT coordinated and prepared the LRB appeal submission.

Outcome

Planning permission was granted.

Impact

After years of neglect and under investment, this was the final piece in new owner’s Estate Strategy. The family have breathed life back into Pressmennan Estate and are proud to be the keepers of Pressmennan’s legacy.
