Commentary

This was a controversial site which was opposed by local planning officers.

APT’s strategy included the preparation of a comprehensive and unchallenged Retail Impact Assessment, a credible and appropriate engagement process with the local population and elected officials and the clear and concise justification of proposals at both planning application and presentation at planning committee.

Outcome

The application was unanimously approved through the planning committee process.

Impact

Planning permission secured for the redevelopment of a vacant and disused B&Q store for a new 80,000sq ft. food superstore.
